Advice for Road Runners: Expect the On Women's Cloudsurfer Running Shoes to deliver soft cushioning and a smooth transition through the gait cycle. These are neutral road running shoes, designed to create a seamless heel-to-toe transition.
Underfoot Feel
The midsole - with its soft cushioning - should deliver a very smooth ride. This is down to how the midsole was developed. On used Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to simulate how each component of their prototype would react during running. The insights resulted in the optimal midsole for seamless weight transfer through the gait cycle. The cushioning is called CloudTec Phase®.
With CloudTec Phase®, the computer-optimised Clouds in the midsole seamlessly collapse like dominoes when your foot lands. The outcome should be a smooth heel to toe transition - which should be very comfortable.
As the On Cloudsurfer Running Shoes don't feature a Speedboard, they feel very soft and forgiving. If you're looking for maximum step-in comfort, these won't disappoint.
Upper Fit
The engineered mesh is very breathable. While not directly relevant to the fit, the upper is coloured using a dope dyeing process that requires 90% less water than standard techniques.
You will not find any plastic overlays on the upper's mesh.
Ideal Run Type
We recommend using the On Women's Cloudsurfer Running Shoes for slow to steady paced runs. That's because the cushioning feels incredibly comfortable and easy to run in at these paces. This also means they work well for longer distance runs.
While the midsole will cope with some brisker efforts, the cushioning isn't overly responsive. For this reason, we wouldn't suggest using the Cloudsurfer for faster paced runs.
